And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Interesting timing. I'm in the midst of putting together a family reunion presentation on family members who gave their lives for the country (U.S.). One was a USMC pilot who disappeared with his Corsair over Bougainville during WWII. While he went missing in November 1943, he wasn't declared legally dead until January 1946. The two dates help distinguish the pedants among us.
Are those rockets?
ReplyDeleteYes. 5 inch rockets I believe

ReplyDeleteSherm, what a worthy pursuit. Hats off to you. Attaboy for keeping the history alive.
DeleteGod bless America
My nickname in the USMC in Vietnam was "Sherm" ... as it related to the cartoon: Sherman and Peabody.
DeleteMy Dad, a retired Marine Corps pilot, would have hung this poster on his living room wall!
ReplyDeleteGod bless each and every USMC "Close Air Support" pilot in all wars.
