And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I was an MP in the Army(1975 to 1980), that looks like basic training squad leader armband. As an MP, we would be carrying a .45 and a ring for our baton and a cuff holder, our armband would have MP and would be carrying our badge pinned to our breast pocket. We could carry a rifle or shotgun on occasion if the need warranted.

We carried 5 D cell mag lights for illumination purposes on
