And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
“Shocked straight”. I wonder what they would say about the phrase that we were taught in EE201 in the early 80s to remember the order of the colors that indicate the resistance of a resistor. The colors are Black brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, gray, and white for the values 0-9.
The phrase that helped one remember the order of the colors was “Bad boys rape only young girls, but violet gives willingly.” I couldn’t believe it then and I even moreso can’t believe it now that that’s how we were taught at a major state university.
When I was the age of that boy in the cartoon, Florida Power and Light's (the power utility's) name for the electric switchblade carrier was Reddy Kill-a-watt (Ready Kilowatt).
Read up on the history of Reddy Kilowatt not too long ago. This is the modernized version of the cartoon as updated by Walter Lantz, creator of Woody Woodpecker. Reddy was animated, the star of an educational cartoon on the history and safety of electricity. His voice was the same talent who did Mr. Peabody from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.
I remember Reddy Kilowatt from my childhood. In fact, just last week I was describing Reddy to my son. I'll have to show him this post. I also remember our neighbor, who disliked electricity so much that he wouldn't even change his own light bulbs, pointing at an electrical outlet and saying, "Boy's, Reddy Kilowatt lives in there and he's a mean son-of-a-bi%@#."
And it will hurt you the entire time it kills you
ReplyDeleteToday's limp writs libtard "helicopter" parents will have a $hit Fit over this "mean" and "scary" cartoon. It might upset they little darlings.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that's the point of the image and message.
“Shocked straight”.
