And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Drag car. Someone removed the bumper, headlights and probably most of the interior to reduce weight. Rollbar inside also. Metal looks straight. Yes, it needs a first class paint job! - Snakepit
Headlights are just a potential source of debris on a dragstrip and add weight. It looks like someone wanted a dedicated drag car. It would be easier to make it roadworthy again than a rusty hulk. Start by removing the roll cage and hope the interior parts and bumpers weren't thrown away. Al_in_Ottawa
It's a real redneck rat rod, love it. Come to WV, all thru these mountains and hollows, trucks cars, home built rigs, custom cross carts and Beetle Bug based rails and side by sides. Found myself a 71 Beetle Bug, was a farm vehicle for some brothers, they ripped out the wiring, used a roof gravity feed fuel tank, bad third gear, $750, 3 grand in new parts built a baja bug, its got 5 colors, mostly flat black and purple, yellow and orange under that, found a good 1600 dual port, and a good tranny, added disc brakes, beefed up susp, daily driver, $30 a month for insurance, $34 a year for tags, and as a get to work ride, around 30-35 bucks a week for gas. See all sorts of hidden gems everywhere, they sell for decent bucks. So many, guy I worked with gave me a 86 Tanger 4WD, free for hauling, his son tried to put a 302 Windsor V8 in it, hooched that all up, had a nice 4" Rancho Kit, got a 90 parts truck, put the 86 back to a 3.2 - 5 speed. Body is rust free, made it my wife's ride, she really loves it. See free or cheap all the time.
Even better, in WV long as the road is classed a "single wide" don't need to be registered nor insurance, really opens things up for getting creative, and there's ten times more single wide road than "two lanes." Lot of areas you can go hundreds of miles using one lanes, the little trick or should say the hidden clause, law says you can cross any multi lane road, and a reasonable dash on multi to get to a single. Most county Sheriffs are real cool about it, long as you're not abusing the interpretation. Or obviously drunk.
an asshole
ReplyDeletebut it's salvageable
Back in the 80's those were just old junkers, so yeah, lots of us GenX drove relics like that and were fricking PROUD to do so!
ReplyDeleteJust needs headlights... maybe a buff
ReplyDeleteBeauty is not only skin deep. That is an easy fix.
