And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The professor told her not to climb on the dinosaur.
It may have been an actual exhibit slated for deconstruction after discovery of errors in assembling the bones. Might as well get the movie studio to pay for it.
One of my geology professors told of a visit to some museum and found that a dinosaur had been reassembled wrongly. Something like the tail vertebrae had been used for the neck.
There have been several such errors. And why not, most fossils are found incomplete. So its an educated guess of which bone goes where. Indeed, after a more complete fossil is found, the museums have to inspect if they got it right, or where they got it wrong. In fact, even now a debate is whether T Rex actually had short arms.
Several (many?) museums, including the Smithsonian I think, have enormous storage in the backrooms. Multiple decades before they actually construct and display the artifacts. So they sot, maybe haphazardly catalogued. Never missed until that one day. Perhaps years after the theft.
Anyone who has rebuilt an engine knows of left over bolts or nuts. Uh oh. Assembling a box of bones might have the same experience. 'Oh, left over bones. Let's put this bone here and that other bone over there '
When I first me my wife in college in the 70s I liked old films and she had not watched them, so I showed her two "It Happened One Night" and this one "Bringing Up Baby" and she learned to love them.
Great movie - Bringing Up Baby - Hepburn and Grant.

theft of property from the back storage areas is a problem.

Yes, theft is a serious problem for the museums.
