And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Oh it could fly. The Canadians could build their own CF-104s single seat versions under license from Lockheed, and even built some for other NATO allies, and had their own pilots to go with them. Canada used to be a serious country.
Had a chat with a Canadian F-104 pilot who flew his to an airshow at Moffett Field-NASA/Ames in the early 80's. Dedicated, hard core about the plane. Limited brakes, use them too soon(high speed) and you won't get stopped. Drag chute mandatory. Pull too hard at high speed, it would stall and fall. Something like 12k minimum agl to recover, mandated 15k eject.
The Germans tossed Hartmann when he made waves about them buying the F104. He declared it a terrible plane for what they needed. They cashiered the worlds highest scoring pilot (352 kills) because he spoke the truth. Turns out the German politicians were being bribed to buy the damn thing.
Do they even have parts to keep them flying.
ReplyDeleteLess than 400 aircraft today. Canada's socialism stopped defending the country and imported the third world.
ReplyDeleteFast widow makers.
ReplyDeleteI can see by the tail flashes that this was back when we had a flag and not a logo. Looks like a couple of 86s back there too. Steve_in_Ottawa
ReplyDeleteThe "ORIGINAL" (accept no substitute) lawn dart!
ReplyDeleteYou can see a more expensive lineup at a Ford Dealership.
ReplyDeleteI can see rust.
ReplyDeleteAluminum, no rust. Highly polished aluminum, so you’re seeing a reflection of the concrete ramp and the yellow lines on the bottom of the fuselage.
DeleteSo, there is no fuel in the wings?
ReplyDeleteCorrect.
DeleteThey look good but can they fly ... or better yet, do they have any pilots who can fly them?
