And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
China was my first thought. reminds me of the last time I took a bus from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. The bus driver stopped the bus along the side of a major highway because two passengers had not cleared customs before the bus left the station. An executive drove the two passengers to the bus to get on the bus. Police were called after some passengers were upset with the bus driver and the bus executive, and there was almost a fight. After that, I decided to take the train.
For two years I was a delivery driver for my friend's business. My route involved crooked mountain roads. I came flying around a blind corner to see a bus stopped diagonally across the two lane. Japanese tourists milling about, oblivious that they were on a public road. That I locked up the brakes while blaring the horn did nothing to faze them. I squeezed my way past while inching forward and continuously laying on the horn. They barely moved out of the way! The driver was a fat Jap.
