And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I recall reading a Road & Track or Car & Driver article where they were on a Nuclear Submarine. Quoted on of the Diving Plane operators (for lack of a better term) as saying 'They let me drive a Billion Dollar Submarine, but I am too young to rent a Car in California".
My uncle dropped out of college at 17 to fly for the Navy. More than once it was a variation on "They let him fly aircraft wired for nukes. which he has to have a guard posted before he can leave the flight line, but we still don't trust him with the family car."
Pretty sure that is untrue unless he was a NAP. Even during WWII enlisted Navy pilots were rare. No less nukes, where were only around 5 or 6 platforms in the Navy (one now) that could carry them. Few of these carried enlisted aircrew,
