  1. I was told this came about when Turnbull made a mistake when refinishing. The customer said he liked the result. The rest is history..

  2. Bone charcoal case hardening has been used for centuries to heat treat steel. The calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, and other elements in bone produce colour patterns that are as individual as snowflakes while the carbon from the charcoal permeates the surface so the 'skin' has a higher carbon content than the body of the steel.
