  2. I had a pair like that and they were perfect for kayaking; waterproof, securely fastened and sturdy enough for portaging through the woods or marshlands.

  3. Each to their own but this is a rare occasion where I agree with Goatsniffer...plain old sandal with thong between big toe and next is the way all Newport/Laguna Beach old farts put their feet down.

  4. I often wear sandals in hot weather (feet don't sweat that way), and around the house (no need to mess with socks). Also took to wearing them when canoeing, but they are not optimal while wading. Those broad soles make it like having a sea anchor on each foot.
