  1. They make a Car version as well, for about 1/3rd the cost.
We just got a new mini-pickup, that'll check off another item!
Thanks for the tip on the mechanical Altimeter, that's on the order too!

  2. The only people that buy prearranged medical kits are people that do not know how to use them, except for the bandaids.

If you know how to properly use a medical kit then you are already aware of the built-in disappointment and probably disaster in the premade stuff. All of the components are cheap knock offs and failures from the git go.

Learn basic First Aid, then you'll be mentally prepared to go to say, Walmart, and for a fraction of the cost of the premade you'll create a medical kit that will do exactly what you need it to.

    You've been warned.

    1. AMEN. This does provide a decent list for your own kit, with some caveats. The med list, especially the Decorel Forte, is iffy and long. Buy generics, skip some of the more useless items (eg, sunscreen in tiny quantities). The bandage etc list could use bigger items and again has some useless stuff (the CPR shield, for example). For the price of the pro kit I made up 3 complete kits including a much bigger home one with lots of extra gauze etc. As noted above: go to Walmart/Amazon/etc, get what you know how to use (though it's worth remembering that someone else may be at the scene who knows more and could use more IF it were available).

    2. Agreed. Best to go to a med supply store with your basket and get what you need. Most of the stuff will expire long before you use it.

  3. Quickclot? I thought they stopped using that years ago. I'm not saying it doesn't work, it does, but it causes a lot of secondary damage to surrounding tissue. I would prefer to use a combat gauze. That said. it saves lives and if it's all you have.
Chuck a few Israeli bandages and CATs and you have a medical kit to die for.

  4. Our county fire department offered free first aid classes, including CPR and defibrilator. Also gave us a very nice - and very basic - kit, complete with a tourniquet and some Narcan.
