And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've had one of these for 9 years and it's the best grill I've ever owned. It is highly adaptive and puts out a lot more product that its appearance suggests would be possible. For example, I can smoke four full racks of spare ribs because the side smokebox comes with racks that lay perfectly below the regular racks in the cooker. For Thanksgiving I smoke a turkey on one side and bake a turkey on the other. The propane side is handy when I don't want to take time to lay coals and it's great for foul weather - I grill all year round. If I'm using coals for burgers and I need more grill space, I can use the smokebox to expand capacity.
The steel is quite thick - I don't know the gauge, but the whole thing is over 200 lbs. I've had to replace the burners after 7 years and the grill racks after 6. I am contemplating replacing it with this newer version due to some corrosion issues with the steel ledges upon which the racks rest. Actual cost was $400 and it is currently available locally for $450.
if it had a hooded griddle on the left side it'd be almost perfect
ReplyDeleteAt that price ($550) I wonder how good it is at either, given a good grill or smoker can cost that much all by its lonesome.
ReplyDeleteAs I've gotten older I find that the swiss-army-knife approach to most tools and appliances is generally suboptimal.
Na. My Weber's are fine.I don't have to plug them in or change the gas bottle.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I have a similar Charbroil. It's nice have to gas or charcoal options. I cooked 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters last night and it all fit.
