And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Reader Recommended. I got lots of sauce to try out, I can see that....
A food auction we go to, they sell case lots or singles, well one night a couple next to us bid on 6 cases of Texas Pete Original, 4 - 1 gallon bottles per case, was a bit curious and asked the fellow if he minded me inquiring what he does with all that hot sauce, he say's, "Oh, not at all, we like it for making us some soup, go thru a couple cases a month."
Grew up in Louisiana, so Tabasco and Crystal are always my go to sauces. Texas Pete has some weird tang that makes it unpalatable. And if you want to have fun, look up the story of why Tabasco changed its address to Avery Island. -Brewer96
I'm tired of trying all these diff hot sauces that I usually don't care for and will most likely just stick with ol' reliable Franks. I put that (splat) on everything.
Frank’s and Tabasco are my go-tos. Texas Pete’s and Crystal are second string at best. Sriracha is different, but better than either one. Thai chili sauce is also great. Cholula is ok.
For more pepper flavor I use actual peppers, fresh or dried. From ancho/poblano and Aleppo to habanero and arbol, there’s so many flavors and heat levels to choose from.
Texas Pete is second choice when Crystal is not available. I don't care for the garlic. The hotter is more in line with Tabasco sauce.

ReplyDeleteSo little time. So many hot sauces.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lord.
Texas Pete was a longtime favorite. Now use a Peruvian Rocoto pepper table sauce. Third place is Cholula Sweet Habanero sauce.

Interestingly, Garner Foods was sued to change Texas Pete's name, as it isn't manufactured in TX. It was thrown out of court.
ReplyDeleteEast Coast Chain: California Tortilla. Every one had a "Wall of Flame". Favorite item thereon: "Rectum Rocket".
ReplyDeleteI make my own because Chachere’s stopped making theirs. Slap Ya Mama is pretty good too. I like the Cajun flavors.
