And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That's a Waco. It's pronounced Whack-O, not Way-Ko. The local aeronautical vlogger Blancolirio just bought a band new one. He putts around town in it and it's easy to tell it's him up there, as it has a very distinctive sound. It's a beautiful plane.
Every summer there's a meeting of Waco owners and planes in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. The planes are beautifully maintained, and some owners will sell rides around Knox Co.
When I was a lad, there was an older guy flying one of these in North Conway, NH. You'd pay your money, climb into the front cockpit, and he'd buzz over the mountains. I was up more than a few times, have to say I could have saved a lot more money that summer if I'd had any sense. It does have a very special sound, and it's a profoundly exciting experience. I didn't know they were still being made.
Used to be a guy had one in Ocean City MD that gave rides. Nice guy, took us all around Ocean City. My wife and I sat in the front, no stick but two rudder pedals. He told us not to touch the pedals. He took pictures of us when we were back on the ground. It was a great experience. A week later, he took two teachers up and they spiralled into the surf, killing everyone.
It would be prettier if it was a tunnel boat with a 350hp engine hanging off the back, I can drive that at least. And it does fly sometimes but that's not ideal. Red boats are faster.
Indeed a lovely sight but betcha it sounds much-much better
