And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
well, I had both and the ones made at the OLD Carmen's where better by far than both in south Philly. problem was the owner sold out to some Koreans and retired. never was the same after that. shame, really.
Lived in Philly ten years. Pat and genos are only patroned by stupid tourists. Hand to god any small corner pizza shop has cheese steaks 10x better. The uglier the corner store, the better the food.
Well, that should be shredded ribeye. And it should have a smathering of mayo, and a healthy helping of fried shrooms, bell peppers, and onions. Yes, that needs to be provolone cheese. But. I'll take a cheesesteak anyway I can get it.
You'd be laughed out of the city (Philly) putting mayo on a cheese steak. And by the by, the only REAL Philly cheesesteak has (besides, shrooms, peppers and onions) Cheese Wiz on top.
I make my own Shaved rib eye Onions & Sweet peppers fried a bit before hand Plain tomato sauce added when steak is just done Cheese to your liking, I use America, provolone, sometimes mozzarella Long Italian roll
I’m a fan of cayenne peppers and the purple ones are the best. It’s a sad season when the first frost arrives here in Dixie cause I know the fresh peppers will soon be gone. Jalapeños are next in line.
Where can I get these sammiches?
ReplyDeleteEither Pat's or Geno's in South Philly. The best in the world.

I was in Philadelphia and tried them, just not my thing I guess...
DeleteBut if that is some good smoked brisket or pork, that would be a different.
@John, Don't they use cheese whiz? That's not cheese whiz.
DeleteCheese whiz... Cheese wiz. It's the same $hit. Looks bad, tastes great!
DeleteI am sorry that the two cheese steak havens in So Philly have changed. They used to be a great place to grab a bite after a night of drinking.

DeleteScratch the mayo, replace with horseradish sauce. It's tastier and better for you.
DeleteEveryone would hate the Washington Cheesesteak. Shaved steak, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo. Best sandwich ever.
Delete... and don't forget the swiss.
DeleteOnly if it's Duke's mayo.
ReplyDeleteMad Dog 357, but just a little, it is mean ...
ReplyDeletea couple of drops in a honey mustard ( or your favorite )bottle sure does the trick
