  1. It looks like the bike fared worse than the rider did.

  3. It truly is amazing how much leather can protect you when you fall. I raced for several years, and it really made a difference.
[If you are careful that is; it's not supposed to make you, . . . over confident (smile)].

    1. I did notice that if I wore a full set of leathers while street riding, instead of just a jacket, I was a bit more aggressive. Discovered that I could make the Duck wiggle by flexing the frame, once the tires and I got warmed up. Decided that riding that hard on the street was foolish. My friend decided to keep riding like that, and a year later he died as a result.

  4. Only thing worse than unexpected dismounting is getting run over.

  5. Probably not so much rash.
But 99:1 a change of underwear was in order afterwards.

  8. It's not the fall the normally hurts you, it's sliding into a solid object, or getting hit by another bike, that can kill you.
BTW, that sliding leather generates quite a bit of heat, enough to cause skin burns, which is why you may notice a fallen rider moving around to keep from overheating any one body part.
Hmm, might not be as bad now that the suits have plastic armor pieces inside to dissipate heat and impact.
His attempts to change his location were fighting his sliding velocity and lack of excess traction. This usually works better if you attempt to get up and run out of your slide. He was facing the wrong direction to do this. He was very lucky not to get hit.
