And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Now that's cool. Armored trains are a poor idea, but that is still pretty cool.
Could be Manchuria, could be eastern Siberia when the Japanese were trying to take over from about 1920 to 1925 during/after the Russian Civil War. Armored trains are very useful in civil wars, where 'friendly' territory has to be patrolled. They were used in the US and Russian civil wars.
WW Two. Uncle Jim's unit was getting shelled by a BIG gun. Not the usual German towed or self-propelled artillery. Someone found an old railroad map that showed a closed line leading through a tunnel that was NOT on any new maps. "Well that's where 'd put my guns." sad the US artillery C.O. USAAF bombed the mountain above the tunnel entrance. No more problems ... at least from those guns.
Sovietski Russian Rocket Forces had ICBM's on Railcars up until the 1980's, I think. Now the "Yars" Missiles (same size as USAF "Minuteman" Roll the Gravel Roads in the Northern Taiga, on 100-Ton, 16-Wheel Kamaz Trucks.
Somewhere in Manchuria, I believe.

DeleteTurn it into a museum real easy...just remove rails.
ReplyDeleteDoes Lionel make an "0-Scale" size model of this Nipponese Bad Boy?
ReplyDeleteThe North Koreans have missile trains they hide in tunnels.
