And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The 71 Cuda, I had one as a senior in high school in 79. It was the base model and the only options were the low power 440 ci V8 and 4:11 limited slip rear. It had horrible understeer with a light, overpowered rear end that would brake free easily. It took lots of concentration to keep it on the road. It also got 8 to 9 mpg and when gas went from 52 cents per gallon to 79 cents I could no longer afford driving it so I sold it for what I bought it for, $2500, a year earlier. I had put new tires, shocks, plugs, wires, condenser/points, and rebuilt the carburetor to get it running right.
A good friend in high school had one in “plum crazy” purple (late ‘80s). He replaced everything but the tie rods. It didn’t end well for my friend, but the farmer got a new fence out of the deal.

ReplyDeleteIn my “middle age” crazy years, I had a 3/4 ton Chev. Suburban with a 454 and 4:11 rear end…
ReplyDelete..I got 11 mpg whether or not I was driving 35 around town or 80 on the Interstates
Psst...It's a Plymouth.
