Comparisons in flow on the Truckee River, which flows from Lake Tahoe, through the center of Reno, and ultimately into Pyramid Lake in Nevada.

The top photo was taken in late 2016. The bottom photo was taken in January 2017 after heavy rain.

  1. Reminds me of working out of a raft on the Applegate river one day, when the USACE (AKA assholes) decided that the rain above the dam was going to over fill the res, so they took us from ~1500 CFS to 40k CFS in two hours. There was an irrigation dam we had to portage around every trip we mad on that stretch, but by the time we got there, it was just a bump in the river we floated right over. By the time we go to the take out, there were big trees on the bank falling in front of us. Technical rafting on steroids! HOly Crap!
