Wings of the Hughes H-4 Hercules, known as the “Spruce Goose,” are moved from Hughes’ Culver City plant to Long Beach at the pace of two miles per hour .

  1. Hmm, at 2mph it must have taken a really long time to get them up to Oregon.................;-)
    IIRC, they did that transit on barges. They sure didn't fly it up there.

    1. Did you even READ the caption? This was during the assembly of the H-4 in 1946 and the wings were being transported from Culver City to Long Beach, California.

  2. 'Got photos of the "Goose" when it was parked next to the "Queen Mary!!" Quite an Airplane!!! When I was in the NAVY I spent 27 months on the USS Princeton LPH-5 outa' Long Beach (late 60's). Most of the time when we were in Port there we were at Pier "E" and it was across the lot that was this "Building" Yup that's where the Goose was for years!! It was in just another tin building!! Funny how that goez.....
