    1. There are three big fires going in the region, the closest to me being the Butte Fire, about 25 or 30 miles to the east. I'm safe as I'm not really in the foothills where the brush and canyons are.

      Here's what I saw on the way home from work the first day the Butte fire got going:

    2. Wow.. amazing image! I wonder how much the true "global warming" impact is. I bet the soot will cause cooling from lack of sunshine :)

    3. I saw that. Only in Russia. They probably named the bear Sasha or something. If I were to do that even with our little black bears I'd be really concerned I'd have company inside the house sooner rather than later.
