And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My mother who danced under the name Venita Louise, was a member of American Ballet Theater in the 50's. During that time she also studied in England at Sadler Wells Ballet Co, which became Royal Ballet Theater. It's difficult to appreciate the amount of effort that it takes to perform. After I was born, she taught instead of dancing professionally and hung out with the likes of Margo Fontaine and George Balensheen. She knew the Barishnikovs but was not close to them. She used to go and stay with Margo in Pensacola for a week or two at a time after Margo retired.
She's amazing, isn't she?!

The Russians did give us some of the greats in ballet. That being said, I would have loved to have seen Margot Fonteyn dance.
