The reason modern country music can't hold a candle to old school

Mashup of six modern country songs, which, per formula, all sound the same.

"Sure Be Cool If You Did"- Blake Shelton "Drunk on You"- Luke Bryan "Chillin' It"- Cole Swindell "Close Your Eyes"- Parmalee "This is How We Roll"- Florida Georgia Line "Ready, Set, Roll"- Chase Rice

There's a reason I like Johnny Cash, but have no interest in this modern pablum. There's no soul, it's not genuine (even insulting: no real country person talks or thinks like these lyrics would suggest), and it's boring after a short while.

  1. I pretty much listen to Haggard, Nelson, Cash, and Jennings for country. Sometimes Jones. The modern stuff has no character.

    1. It's as if the lyrics of modern country music were written by a city dweller based on the stereotype of what an urban person thinks a country person does and says. Authentic country speaks honestly to a much wider variety of life issues, and with a hard edge that actually 'living the life' gives you.

  2. It's formula BECAUSE nobody has lived their life like the old school folks did! The old school folks came up from nutten' and had to sing to get out of that life. Now-a-days, not so much.
