And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I recently read a book, "A DARK HISTORY: THE VIKINGS", by Greg O'Brien, and much of what is known about Viking culture is learned by studying Iceland.
Also, when reading a short story, "THE BERSERKER FEUD", in the January/February 2011 edition of the, "ALFRED HITCHCOCK MYSTERY MAGAZINE", I learned about skyrr (pronounced "skeer"), which is an extremely thick yogurt made in Iceland.
Skyrr is fermented...and not very good from my point of view. It reminds me of drinking Pulque in Mexico. They're not made of the same thing but require local palates to be appreciated.
That's where they filmed the movie, "Promethius" -- at the dawn of time.
ReplyDeleteI saw that flick, and it did look like the dawn of time.
