Big rock and small.
The big black machine on the east side of the pass.
Rock, tree and snow.
Aspen splitting the stone.
Red Lake, and Hope Valley beyond.
Snowmelt, on it's way to the Sink of the Carson far away in Nevada.
Interesting fact: As recently as September 1984, the Carson Sink received inflows of almost one-half million acre-feet as a result of the wettest year on record (1983), thereby temporarily creating a lake with a surface area of over 330 square miles (212,000 acres), making it for a time the largest body of water in Nevada.
Awesome pics.
ReplyDeleteStrange, I have a pic from my grandson the corpsman, (while he was doing mtn survival with the Marines), that I think is the same rock, tree, snow...
Heh! He might have been down at Pickle Meadows off Sonora Pass. Lots of good training goes on there.
