A family friend has been out of work here in Central California, and was having trouble finding another decent job. Friends in the state of Mississippi told her to come there, as jobs were allegedly plentiful.
She did, and guess what? Three job offers in her first visit. Their family is pulling up stakes in the Golden State and moving everyone to Mississippi.
Got that? California to Mississippi.
You know it's bad when one more middle class, productive citizen has to move to Mississippi, of all places, to find decent work. It's not just Toyota, or Charles Schwab, but also the little guys, one at a time, who are leaving.
why do you disparage Mississippi?its a very fine place.many good people live there.this attitude to the south by people who move here is amazing to me.if you know your ww2 history you would find that pattons troops were drawn from the deep south and trained at fort polk la.look at mt rushmoore three sothrons and roosvelt was half southron.your friend truckwilkins
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are right, but traditionally, the move has been in the other direction. Almost exclusively. Now, states like Mississippi are rising, along with all the deep south, Texas, North Dakota ( of all places!) because they are intelligently managing their economies and their business climates, unlike arrogant California. It's really an issue with the idiots in California, as compared with the much wiser folk in places like Mississippi.
DeleteSeems lots of business are leaving California for other states. Same is happening here in Jersey. The taxes just don't make it profitable to run a business. Unemployment is high and if you don't have any money except for the basics, you can't buy anything extra. You would not believe how how many homes are for sale in our area. A few years ago they were selling in the high $500,'s. Now, they would be lucky to get $300,.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the leave their liberalism back in Kalifornia, we don't need it spreading....... ;)
