Tactical Downrange Tomahawk, by Gerber.

This old tool of war is experiencing a real renaissance.

However, my choice of weapon in medieval situations is the warhammer.  Something perhaps like this.

My favoritie Amazon review:

The M48 Kommando Tactical Survival Hammer is the latest addition to United Cutlery's line of M48 survival products...and it's a hell of a piece of gear.

Boasting an overall length of 37″ (just over 3 feet), the M48 Kommando Tactical Survival Hammer can feel a little cramped indoors...but the folks at United Cutlery already thought of that. Integrated directly into the handle is a full-fingered grip just below the hammer's head. This additional grip allows for shorter strikes, jabs, attacks, and defensive maneuvers for use tighter spaces like hallways, doorways, and basements. While the length of the hammer isn't perfect for extreme close quarters fighting, it is more than workable, and besides...close quarters isn't really what it's meant for anyways.

Because the M48 Kommando Hammer has such a long reach, it's perfect for striking out and tripping up or holding back and pushing opponents out of the way...not to mention it's ability to place a swing into a head or two, all while maintaining a fair distance. The extended length of the M48 Kommando Hammer also allows for a lot of leverage that you just can get from a shorter handle, this makes forced entry and demolition work a lot easier on the user.

The precision cast 2Cr13 stainless steel head of the M48 Kommando Tactical Survival Hammer features a hammer head with 5 spiked points for increased efficiency and piercing power upon impact, and a curved spike on the reverse side that's perfect for attacks and defensive maneuvers, cracking Zombie skulls, forced entry, demolition, and moving rubble out of the way.

The combination of the spiked hammer head and curved rear spike, gives users of the M48 Kommando Hammer the flexibility to go from smashing and crashing Zombie skulls to use as a forced entry or demolition tool and more, without reconfiguring or even changing the grip.

With a lightweight 30% fiberglass composite shaft, the bulk of the hammer's weight is in the steel head...making the M48 Kommando Hammer intentionally unbalanced. This unbalanced design, combined with the well designed hammer head, is exactly what gives it the ability for such a smooth and powerful swing.

This truly is a tool designed for destruction and all out force...and it excels at providing a platform for both of those things. We pitted the M48 Kommando Hammer against a ceramic cup, 1″ thick plywood board, red brick, and a coconut, and not once during our tests did the M48 even hint at a lack of ability or weakness in materials or design. Everything we took it to was destroyed, and we never even had to put full force into it...though we're betting it'd make for a great show.

Great for sweeping attacks, heavy-handed over-head strikes, gut jabs, forced entry, breaking up rubble, use as a crowbar, and much more; the M48 Kommando Tactical Survival Hammer truly is a beast of a weapon and tool.
