An interesting question:
We now know that a prominent journalist who was virtually the only one actually doing an investigation of the Obama Administration had her computer hacked multiple times, almost certainly by the government itself, and on the instruction of the administration.
Now I understand that the Romney campaign is investigating whether it's computers were also hacked. Recall that they had a special computer program that they were using to help them get out the vote.
What if it is shown that the administration was the source of the hacks into the Romney campaign, and that they disrupted that campaign's computer system to hinder their efforts?
Would that not be an impeachable offense? In fact, would it not require an impeachment, as the Watergate break in did?
One would think that using the full power of the NSA in particular, and the government in general, against your political opponent during an election would be hugely criminal.
Ignore for a moment that that is exactly what Obama did to the Tea Party using the IRS, since they are not a formal political party. It shouldn't be different, but it is since the establishment Republicans dislikes the Tea Party just about as much as the Democrats do, even though they make up a huge part of their base (but I digress...).
How can the establishment Republicans ignore such an affront, since if they did it would encourage even more such activities?
That problem may be the administration's undoing, as the MSM really would have to say something about it, and the Republicans would have no choice but to "clear leather," as someone so picturesquely put it, as a matter of principle. Even if the Senate could be counted on to protect the president and prevent a successful removal from power, maybe the process would educate enough of the voters who are capable of learning, that the next election would see the end of the Democrats and their evil power.
The Republicans might as well roll the dice under these circumstances, as a failure to try would also ensure their political demise, and the reduction of the country to a two bit banana republic, akin to Venezuela.
Having said all that, does anyone doubt that if the administration used the IRS as we know they did, if they hacked a hostile journalist's computer as they almost certainly did, that they didn't do the same with the Romney campaign's computers as well?
Perhaps it really is only a matter of a short time before this really does blow up big, and the current scandals which have entertained us all so far are only a prelude.
Excellent point and time will time.
