Out in the Midwest, a WWII era fighter plane, a FM-2 Wildcat to be precise, was pulled up from the bottom of Lake Michigan.

It crashed during a training mission, and the pilot, Edward Forbes, bailed out and finished his training.  He lived to be 85.

It is scheduled to be restored, which is estimated to take five years.

More than 17,000 pilots completed their training in WWII over Lake Michigan, among them George H.W. Bush.
