  1. lol - THAT one was making the rounds when I was in grade school. Guess some things are too good to die.

  2. Sir Douglas Bader flew with prosthetic legs after a crash in 1931.

  3. One of the regulars at happy hour was an elderly German gentleman. He sat quietly at the end of the bar, had two glasses of red wine, then got up and left us with a pleasant nod.
    One day I recounted the story above and Alex broke out in unaccustomed boisterous laughter.
    Turned out he had worked on the Bf 109 at the factory in Regensburg.
    Nice guy. He really got a kick out of that story.
