Santa needs to stop hanging out in bars after work.

Cabin porn, although Imma gonna have to switch to winter cabin porn, given all the inclement weather we have been having.

Well, it was a great Christmas Eve here at the homestead.  Like last year, we did a Swedish Julbord (a smorgasbord, but at Christmas), that had all the tastiest goodies we could gather together. There's that Shepherd's bread, some Martinelli's, and one of the bottles of home made wine the neighbor dropped off. There is a blue glass full of pomegranate juice we squeezed laboriously from the mangy tree in the backyard.  Even some pickled herring made an appearance, and contrary to reputation, it's actually pretty good stuff. The youngest daughter made a cheesecake for dessert.  Lots of variety seems to work.

Now, the farm wife and the girls are watching an Abbott and Costello on the TV, and the dogs and cat are lounging around the front room, as if they are exhausted from their big day of lounging around.

Tonight, life is good, and merry Christmas to everyone.

A beautiful, dream like vision in Yosemite Valley as we enter our Christmas Eve.

Scotsmen trapped in a voice activated elevator = the funny.

Bored and looking for something to do/read on Christmas Eve?  How about burnishing up your man skills by watching this video on axe lore.  You might never seriously need to use this knowledge, but then again, what hairy chested man shouldn't know all about them and how to properly use and care for an axe?

What better way to have some man fun by finding your dad's old axe in the garage or barn, and sharpening it up?

While the bread is rising, the farm wife is making cranberry sauce.  She claims it is really easy to make, but I'm not so sure.

Meanwhile, we sent the two younger kids over to the neighbors with some Christmas goodies. The guy just to the south of me is retired and keeps himself busy with ten acres of vineyard, and he always delights us with some home made wine.  Here are this years bottles.  I love the masking tape labels.  Imma break one open right about now, cause you can't let this good stuff go to waste....

If my spelling deteriorates, you'll know why.

At the farm wife's request, I have started the day long process to bake up a big loaf of Shepherd's bread.  The yeast is in the water awakening right now, and after a few minutes I'll start mixing in the flour.  Takes all day, basically, to let it rise a couple of times, knead it down, and then bake it, but good things take time.

The farm wife has brought some dried cranberries home from the store, and I'll mix those in the dough. Makes the bread really Christmas-y.  And tasty!

This is what it will look like when it's done:

Cabin porn, Finnish style.

File this one under "the internet is an amazing thing."

No nettles where I live, but the temptation to try something like this has been ignited by this little demonstration. So much fun stuff to do - but so little time.

Democratic officials in four New England states are facing actual jail time for voter fraud.

The truly amazing thing is that these people are even prosecuted at all, given the proclivities of the current administration.  Perhaps we should see this as a mildly hopeful sign?

That whole "elf on the shelf" story is complete BS.  This is really what that stinkin elf does when you go to bed.

Ya think, given that picture below?

Actually, all snark aside, this one, known as Volcan Copahue, apparently erupts relatively frequently, usually several times a decade, and the seismic indications suggest a minor eruption.

Still, I might make tracks away from that, if I were nearby.

Ah ha!  Over at I'm 41, there is a post documenting the closing of an Ohio progressive radio station, which the owner blames on his own God and master, President Obama!

You see, it wasn't the stupid progressive content of his programming.  It wasn't the spittle flecked hatred that the guy naturally belched forth against anyone who disagreed with the progressive position. No, it was that the Obama campaign didn't flood his station with advertising money so they could preach their candidate to people who were already going to vote for him.

Even the Republicans could have told this guy that bit of news.

I think the poor track record of hyper liberal, or progressive, programming might have clued this guy in that something like this was eventually going to happen.

In any event, good riddance to bad rubbish.
