Noooooo! I guess nothing lasts forever.
In memory of some legends, I post this picture of the world's nicest Single Nine, with Sack Peterson stag grips.
And a Bisley chambered in 256 Win Mag. How about that for off beat fun?
And my workhorse, a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in 45 Colt with some fantastic grips. I years past when I'd do some gold mining in remote brushy areas this is what I'd pack in case I ran into some two legged varmints. Big Boom in the room!

Beretta is the cause.
ReplyDeletebought my first Blackhawk for about 90 bucks back in the day. sold it during the divorce. always wanted to get another one as they where a great wheel gun.
ReplyDeletelooks like I am out of luck now. also saw a Number 1 in 7mm Mauser years ago.
didn't have the money to buy it then, and it looks like I never will now.
a very nice simple rifle just the thing for deer hunting. something else I don't do much of these days. damn shame as they always looked good to me.
I'm still in shock. Too many firearm models gone with little notice. I'm surprised Ruger didn't do a victory lap, announcing a year (or at least few months) period of "Buy While You Can' with each model. I wonder how long parts and spare magazines will be available.
ReplyDeleteForgot to comment on the above photos. Very nice single actions! I have a 4 5/8" barrelled .45LC / .45ACP convertible that makes a great packing pistol. No fancy slabs though, factory originals. Not sure I can purchase another Ruger, though a Mannlicher tang safety .308 Winchester could maybe change my mind.
ReplyDeleteI've only bought one new Ruger in my lifetime. That was more than a decade ago when they finally started making a .44 Special Blackhawk Bisley. All the rest of my Ruger revolvers and No. 1s have been purchased used. Never a problem.
ReplyDeletePoint being, if you want a Ruger that's going out of production get it while the getting is good. Besides the fact that they'll be getting harder to find is the fact that they won't be getting any cheaper, especially the used ones.
I looked at a new GP100 a couple of years ago, looked like it was finished by a blind guy & the action felt like it was full of sand. Thought maybe they were better than mine from the 80s, I was wrong.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Ruger will still be making distributor special runs for Lipsey's and Talo.
