  7. I paid 16 cents a gallon at the corner of Hwy 50 and the 65th Street expressway in 1970. There was a station on each corner and they were having a "gas war," back when that meant lower prices, not higher.

  8. Yup, same conditions in SoCal at that time. I remember 0.17/gal, filling my tank for under $3 while getting my windshield cleaned, oil level and tire pressure checked AND S&H Green stamps, free steak knives and water tumblers.
