And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Wright Brothers could never have imagined this.
Orville died two years after the first flight of the B-36, lived to see the sound barrier broken, and his last time at the controls was in a Connie, I reckon this was not beyond their imagining.
No that's where many have frozen to death attempting to escape though. Temps at 30,000 ft aren't compatible with the human body clothed in sandals and tunic.
