The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Only quandries. 1/2" thick boards are NOT holding all that weight. Why do people remove the speaker fronts? Looks like hell and invites damage. Turntable cannot be played in that position, so why is it there? That receiver transformer generates lots of heat and needs air to breath. Lastly, I owned that exact boom box back in the early 80's and it was the sound source on my workbench.
