Refuel and Refresh

  1. AZ National Guard callsign Copper## (Copperheads). Flying KC-135s built in the late 1950s and early 1960s out of the south side of Phoenix Sky Harbor almost every day. Also known as Goldwater Air National Guard Base.

Good chance that 130 is out of Tucson's Davis Monthan AFB, with the boneyard, electronic combat group (EC-130s), rescue group (PJs like those recently in the news, and of course a whole bunch of A-10's.

  2. In the 80s, the Copperheads visited Guam as part of the Pacific Tanker Task Force. They would have an Arizona feast for those on Anderson who wanted to meet their crews.

Though out the 80s, the ARC crews rotating into Guam for the PTTF were really good at getting gas to the receiver. They maintained the Young Tiger spirit and for those who visited the PTTF briefing room, the Young Tiger battle flag was on display there.

  3. AC-130J with Universal Aerial Refueling Receptacle Slipway Installation (UARRSI). That's a 30mm Bushmaster up front. I think the 40mm "pom pom" gun version are all retired.
