And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
when i was a kid in Burlington WA there was a restaurant called the White Spot. it was a couple blocks down from the lumbar yard my dad owned. i have no clear memory of it but i still remember the place and name and, for reasons i can't explain to myself, still occasionally 'remember' smells from it. this pic briefly brought that back. that was aa fair piece of time ago, too.
as the sign on a nearby 3rd gen restaurant truthfully proclaims; "best breakfast in town". Fondly remember 1st gen Mama cranking out a steady stream of fresh biscuits.
Memories of long gone visuals. Sometimes all it take is a visual to bring back faint smells, sights, cute young waitresses and good stick to your gut food for a long forgotten price.
I'm going to guess that those stools are anchored to the floor.

ReplyDeleteThe only thing missing is the ashtrays on the counter.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of my favorite breakfast place, The Coffee Shop in Sylva NC. Besides a great southern style breakfast they make excellent pies.
ReplyDeleteGod I miss those places.
