And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Dad planted naval and valenica orange trees. The only nuisance insect was a species of black ants. But diatomaceous earth sprinkled around the trunk solved that. The smell of orange blossoms was wonderful. Every tree produced gallons of juice.
The Valencia’s like a dry climate. I grew up in SoCal in the 50’s-60’s and lived adjacent to 100’s of acres of Valencia orange groves. The odor of orange blossoms on a still night is awesome.
I'd love the fruit trees in the garden but not the heat, humidity and the insects.
