It's all about the Gulf Stream

  1. That's backwards. The Gulf stream warms the east coast of the US , but this shows the west coast of Europe being warmer. Bangor, Maine is -2F while Bordeaux is 11F? How?

The Gulf stream dumps its heat all the way up to its northernmost reach.

    1. Research it. There are many visualizations of the various North Atlantic and equatorial currents and their offshoots in the literature.

    2. Where the stream mixes with the cold Labrador current, there is fog. Not all the time of coarse, but thats why.

The Azores, Eire, UK, and south to Spain enjoy warm water because of the stream.

  2. Temps in C meaningless unless one wants to do a lot of conversions, sigh...

    1. While I prefer American, celsius doesn't give me any problems. It just takes a bit of practice, not much at all.

    2. As Bob and Doug McKenzie used to say, "Double it and add 30." So Brest is: 10X2=20 20 +30= 50. So 10 degrees C is 50 degrees F. It's not a perfect conversion but it's easy enough to do in your head.
