  1. The image shows the Haut-fond Prince Lighthouse, commonly known as the "Prince Shoal Light" or "La Toupie" (The Top), located in the St. Lawrence River near Tadoussac, Quebec, Canada.

    Construction:
Built in 1964, the unique hourglass-shaped tower sits on a tapered base designed to resist powerful tides and break up ice.

    Function:
It is an active lighthouse that warns vessels of the dangerous undersea hazards in the area.

    Engineering:
The structure is 25.3 meters (83 feet) high and features a helicopter-landing pad on its main unit.

    Tourism:
The lighthouse is a popular landmark often visited by boat tours focused on whale watching in the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park.

  3. I was a light house keeper for a year (Pt Robinson in WA, 76-77). Anyone else out in reader land work at a light house?

  4. I did electronics repair on lighthouses. The fun part was when they would occasionally lower you down in a basket from a chopper cuz sea access was too rough or chopper crews wanted to run the drill
