And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My guess is George Caleb Bingham, known as "the Missouri artist." He painted many scenes of life on and along the Missouri River in the 1800s. Well known in the Show-Me State. Biggskye in Missouri
Wrong guess. It's named "Mississippi River Flatboatmen Navigating Past Tower Rock" by a modern artist named Gary Lucy. Gary was from the Bootheel area and graduated from SEMO in 1971. He later had a gallery in Washington, Missouri. Born in 1949 and passed in 2025. He's best known for a series of paintings about the Lewis and Clark expedition and painting in Bingham's style Biggskye in Missouri Biggsky
