And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Caught a headline this week, "Half of Japanese Samurai warriors were women!". I gather that they were basing it on the height of the person that wore the armor. And how much lighter it was than European plate armor.
As Samurai was a social status, you were born into a Samurai family or raised to it by a lord. Therefore it makes total sense that there female Samurai , Onna-bugeisha.
