And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I thought it was a Model 39 too. The long barrel/short magazine tube threw me off at the "get go". It doesn't look "big" enough to be a centerfire, but then again, there isn't a lot for scale comparison. It could be AI. LOL!
Overall, shaped very much like my Winchester model 71. (.348)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rifle. Marlin 39 or 1897 and I don't care which, I'll take it!
ReplyDeleteMy folks gave me the "Canadian Carbine" model for Christmas when I was 13. Must have at least 500K rounds down the tube.

My first guess was Marlin 39, but now think like Anon 5:23 possibly a 1897. Beautiful rifle.

DeleteI've always liked the look of a half magazine on a lever gun.
ReplyDeleteIt's a 97 and by looking at it, worth about $4k.
ReplyDeleteBeing a takedown, I can believe that.
