And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Get a slight case of 4th Grade California history PTSD every time I’d see a road sign for “Donner Pass”. Revisited that nightmare when my son had to do his 4th grade report on the event. On EVERY branch of the decision tree those folks made the wrong choice….. and they still almost made it.
I remember when a cafeteria in DC was named the Alfred E Packer Memorial Cafeteria. The name was removed when they found out who Alfred E Packer was and what he had done. Still one of the best pranks to come out of DC.
