And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? I've never drunk out of a muddy hoof print...
but I have drunk out of a shovel dug hole in a wet seep. Warn't good, but it was wet.
My great uncle was a 30 year Army man (Master Gunnery Sergeant) during and after WW I. The family said he wouldn't think twice about drinking out of a cow track.
I think that every Texan does this as a rite of passage. If you're a texan and haven't had a sip from a slew or a muddy hoof print, you're essentially a disgrace to Texas.

ReplyDeleteYou get thirsty enough, you'll drink it. Tired enough, you'll sleep anywhere. Plus, makes great stories later to impress the whippersnappers.
