And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. Game of Arrows. ca. 1900. Source - Yale Collection of Western Americana, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
"I shot an arrow/into the air, it fell to earth/I know not where." If I were one of those braves, I'd be mindful of where the arrows will come down, and not stand there. Is that the game?
The loser gets the arrow he shot- stuck in his head?
Hmm. Don't think my mother would want me playing that game!

Indian Russian Roulette.
DeleteNow this brings back memories.
ReplyDeletePlayed this game nearly 50 years ago, when I was a kid. Winner was the one whose arrow landed closest. Yikes.
(Still not sure how I survived my teens...)
=T.W.=
We played it with lawn darts in the 70's. We didn't wear helmets back then. Boys will be boys. JP
