I don't think you can accurately call a snowstorm in mid June a "winter" storm.

US National Weather Service Sacramento California:

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Lassen Park, where 4 to 8 inches of snow may fall on Thursday!

I'll all melt off right away, but heck!  Decades ago, I planned a backpack trip to the Marble Mountains at this time of year, but had to deal with a June snow storm.  Just had to stay a little lower in elevation, but it was still way colder than expected.  Sounds like that weather is back.
