And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

13th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Spanish American War, with what appears to be their Gatling Gun
Notice the almost vertical magazine, no spring. One man to crank the handle and another to constantly tap the side of the mag to make sure it continued to feed.
It certainly looks like a Gatling Gun, which is obviously a crew-served weapon. It would have been fun to see what sort of limber they had pulling it.
