And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I remember escorting the Enterprise in a storm while on a destroyer. The big E announced that the foul weather forced them to close the bowling alley. Yea, we believed it.
Worked on the flight deck for several cruises and can testify it's the most dangerous environment I've ever been in. I've seen green water over the bow and experienced 2 collisions with other ships. In the North Atlantic I saw not only water over the bow, but a blizzard with snow accumulation on the flight deck. Nothing like an icy flight deck to make your day! My heart goes out to those who are out there now doing the necessary but dangerous job. And I know they are out there now since our carriers are ALWAYS out there and operating, 24/7/365 every year.
There are times that they take blue water over the bow and onto the flight deck.
