And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Freund-Sharps rifle that belonged to William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, 1883
I love the way iron and wood come together as functioning art. Bucket list item here, go to the Cody Western Museum in Cody, Wyoming, just east of Yellowstone. There are five museums there and the Cody Firearms collection is amazing. The Olin Corporation gifted their Winchester collection to the Cody in 1988. They have over 7,000 firearms to admire. Go there Cee Dub!!
I second Lou's recommendation, was at the Cody museum this summer, and spent hours in the firearms collection. So much history! Plan to spend a couple of days if you can.
